This is what I sent:

Your guidance document states that "In the United States, the practice of CAM has risen dramatically in recent years." The reason for the rise in use is that people are waking up to what conventional medicine is doing to them. We Americans pride ourselves in having the freedom to choose that which is best for ourselves. We do not need a government nanny telling us that we do not know what is good for us. I do not understand how an agency that claims it is regulating food and drugs "for our own good" can question the value of nutrients that are inarguably vital for health and well being (vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, proteins, prebiotics and probiotics) and yet approve drugs that have been shown to cause irreparable harm and even death (Vioxx and Celebrex just to start with). With your poor track record for safety, I would prefer you keep your hands of CAMS. If you start regulating CAMS, our freedom to choose what is best for us would be eliminated and the health and well being of our citizens will be in grave danger. I am asking you to leave things well enough alone. Thank you.
